THE organisers of Ludlow Green Festival are putting the final touches for the event that will be held this year for the last time in August.

It will also include this year a chance to try some food with a difference.

The Royal Society of Biology will be seeing how the idea of eating insects goes down with food lovers in Ludlow and south Shropshire.

Taking place in Ludlow Town Centre’s Market Square there will be an array of activities to keep visitors entertained.

People will be able to watch the buzzing Hawthorn Hedge pollinator puppets, sample the food of the future with insect recipes from the Menu of the Future Cooking Demos or listen to the Vintage Jazz Revival Band.

They can make a festive pom-pom-pom with Scrappies or bring along a bike and get free advice from Award-winning bike builder Liz Colebrook of Beaumont Bicycles on how to set the bike up for the best riding position or learn how to mend a puncture.

It is also Open Day at the local Allotments a short stroll from town with gardening advice and food to sample.

Ludlow 21, the organisers of Ludlow Green Festival will be staging displays of the work they have been undertaking throughout the year.

This will include a model polar bear made from recycled materials by young people at Rockspring Community Centre in workshops led by artist Jessica Jackson.

A creative approach to what happens to all of our rubbish and part of an ongoing programme by the 3Rs group (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) together with South Shropshire Furniture Scheme at Rockspring.

A long standing and annual event, Ludlow Green Festival will be opened by Ludlow’s Mayor, Cllr Paul Draper. It takes place on Sunday, August 28, running from 10am – 4pm. it also fills

To round the day off, a full line-up of great bands is booked for Party at the Brewery, 7pm – 11pm.

Headlining will be quirky acoustic folk band Two Coats Colder supported by the solo guitar of Ben Calvert and the musical duo of energy with a big voice and rhythmic bhodran, Emma and The Professor.

Next year the Green Festival is earmarked to take place in early July.
