A SCHOOL near Tenbury has enjoyed a record year for scholarships.
Children from Abberley Hall, won 37 scholarships, awards and exhibitions – a ‘spectacular’ achievement according to their headmaster.
These final year pupils, aged 13, will now take up places at some of the country’s leading independent schools in September.
Will Lockett, headmaster of Abberley Hall, which has around 300 boarding and day pupils aged between two and 13, said he was thrilled with the success.
“It is impressive because pupils won valuable scholarships for their outstanding academic, sporting, art, design, technology, drama and musical skills and talents, showing that our school can excel in all areas of the curriculum,” said Will Lockett.
The accolades have been awarded by a range of top establishments including Shrewsbury School, Kings Worcester, Malvern College, Malvern St James, Radley, Rugby, Clifton College, Oundle, Cheltenham Ladies College, Marlborough College, Cheltenham College, Downside, Denstone, Christ’s Brecon and Moreton Hall.
