JULY 28 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter, the well-loved children's author.

In the spring, the St Michaels Mother and Tots group decided to create a garden to commemorate this anniversary and to improve the area around the hall.

In April a group of helpers cleared the area and laid shingle. The children took part in a sponsored toddle to raise money for pots and plants.

During the summer term the children helped to plant seeds and small plants. They enjoyed watering the plants and watching how they grew.

The garden has thrived and we now have carrots, beans, peas, courgettes, potatoes, sunflowers, herbs and some fruit trees. The poster of Peter Rabbit looks happily down on the garden.

Please stop and look at the garden as you pass the village hall.
