THREE gardens in south Shropshire are opening their gates for charity.

All three gardens are supporting the National Gardens Scheme.

Norton Farm, overlooking the Clee Hills, has been restored as holiday cottages surrounded by Mediterranean-style gardens with old walls and maturing herbaceous borders. The old orchard at the farm has been preserved and developed.

There is also a small ornamental water-lily pond to enjoy before a visit to the reed bed filtration system completes the tour.

Holmcroft in Brimfield is a quintessential cottage garden surrounding a 17th century thatched cottage. There are more than 80 climbing plants in this garden as well as gravel and woodland areas affording far-reaching views across the countryside beyond. Most of the garden is accessible by wheelchair.

A classic walled garden packed full of planted areas and plants for sale it forms part of the Delbury Hall.

It featured in last year’s BBC Gardeners’ World programme.
