TENBURY’S man at Shire Hall in Worcester has landed one of the top jobs on the county council.

Ken Pollock who represents Tenbury on Worcestershire County Council has been appointed as the portfolio holder responsible for economic development.

His role with responsibilities for the economy, skills and infrastructure carries a budget of £60 million.

The role will see him in overall charge of economic development, strategic planning and working with the Local Enterprise Partnership, regional and European relationships as well as skills and broadband.

“It is worth noting again that Worcestershire’s productivity is growing at a rate faster than any other area save two, namely Oxford and London,” he said.

“The budget for the coming year, 2016/17 will be set at the council meeting today (February 11), after approval by Cabinet last Thursday.

“It is clear that the coming year will be one of serious austerity and we will be aiming to see that front line services are maintained as far as possible. As already announced, the County’s contribution to council tax will increase by 3.94%, including the 2% precept that the Chancellor has allowed to be devoted to Adult Social Care.”
