LUDLOW won through to the last 16 of the England Men’s Vase in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at Nuneaton last Sunday.

After an absorbing 5-5 draw, they went through in sudden death when Nuneaton hit the post and Ludlow converted their penalty to triumph 6-5.

Nuneaton led 2-1 at the break, James Pratt scoring Ludlow’s goal, but in an action-packed second period the Shropshire side scored four times, through Pratt again, skipper Vijay Chumber, guest Lawrence Richards and Matt Blount.

Ludlow were beaten 6-2 at Sikh Union in Saturday’s West Midlands League clash. They had their fair share of the play but found it difficult to break down an experienced defence.

Ludlow trailed 3-0 at the break but made a better fist of it after the restart with a brace from Graham Hutchinson.

Ludlow 2nd?went down 3-1 at home to Redditch. The returning Aaron Wilcox scored their goal from a superb Josh Rowson pass but the visitors showed their greater experience in the second half. Skipper Tom Aston and Jack Wood were both outstanding.

*LUDLOW/WENLOCK Ladies got the better of their own 2nd XI to win 3-1. Georgia Richards gave the senior side the lead and the second half saw Evie Davies and Faith Harrison add further goals.

Tenbury Ladies made a sluggish start against Stourport 3rd and paid the price in a 5-2 defeat.

Despite some excellent defensive work from Lindsey Aldridge-Bufton, Tenbury trailed 3-0 at half time. The second half saw the weather worsen and Tenbury’s woes were compounded when they lost Alice George with a nasty head injury and sister Kate Mifling was taken to hospital.

Stourport went 5-0 up before Tenbury found their form to respond with goals from Emily Moseley and Cat Mumford.
