NEWCASTLE’S habit of throwing away a lead reared its ugly head again as they were pegged back in a 2-2 draw with St Harmon in Mid Wales League South.

They opened up a 2-0 lead with goals either side of half time but visiting St Harmon snatched with a point with two goals in the last 15 minutes.

In appalling conditions Newcastle deservedly took the lead just before half-time with Carl Price and Jimmy Thomas combining to set up Craig Morris to slot home.

Keeper Barry Evans then kept the visitors in contention with saves from Morris and Thomas before Sam Morgan hit the bar.

Thomas added to Newcastle's lead but St Harmon pulled a goal back against the run of play and then snatched a late equaliser.

*PROMISING young Newcastle player Ed Marston has had a successful knee operation but is unlikely to play again this season.

*ORLETON Colts had a mixed weekend in the Herefordshire League. The reserves picked up a 3-1 win over struggling Tupsley in Division One but an understrength first team were beaten 6-2 at Fownhope in the Premier Division.

A long-range lob from Corey Whitticase broke the deadlock for the reserves against Tupsley and Will Caswell added a second. Tupsley then pulled a goal back but Connor Bufton made sure of the points. On target for Orleton firsts were Richard Wozencroft and Dan Crowther.
