A LUDLOW hearing centre has been raise money for Sound Seekers, a charity dedicated to helping people with hearing loss in some of the world’s poorest communities.

Staff at Specsavers in the town centre sported an array of ears as well as holding a cake sale and selling sweet treats in return for a suggested donation.

The store also reminded that they are collecting unwanted hearing aids for the charity.

“Approximately 80 per of the world’s estimated 360 million deaf population live in the developing world but fewer than one in 40 that need a hearing aid currently have one,” said Peter Lyons, from Specsavers in Ludlow.

Sound Seekers is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping people with hearing loss, especially children, in the poorest communities of the developing world.

The charity currently develops and supports projects in Cameroon, The Gambia, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zambia, working to help children stay in school and adults to find and keep jobs.
