ONE of the Philippines' most famous rock bands dropped by at a care home near Aston on Clun on August 24, to entertain residents and staff. The six members of 'Seventies Superband' broke off their UK tour at the invitation of Ken Andal, who owns the Kelvindale Residential Home. Mr Andal was one of the sponsors of the band's weekend gig at the buttermarket in Shrewsbury. He and his wife Norriz asked Seventies Superband if they would like to come to Kelvindale for the afternoon and they were delighted to accept. "The band is very famous indeed in The Philippines," said Ken. "This is their third visit to the UK. Everyone thought they were great and it was wonderful to share the two cultures for a few hours." Seventies Superband have now returned to The Philippines after their tour, while residents of Kelvindale have a trip on a canal to look forward to. Call 01588 660323 for more information.
