LUDLOW MP Philip Dunne has said well done to GCSE students in south Shropshire.

He has offered his congratulations to pupils and teaching staff across the Ludlow Constituency as GCSE results were announced yesterday.

Positive results included the best ever results for Ludlow school, significantly improved results at Church Stretton and William Brookes schools, and the best results for ten years at the Community College in Bishop’s Castle.

“Initial indications show this is a very good year for GCSE results in the Ludlow Constituency,” said Mr Dunne.

“I am particularly pleased with the increase in the number of pupils achieving A* to C grades in English and Maths. Employers look for these basic skills, so it is important schools equip pupils for the future, and this seems to be improving.”

Nationally, the number of pupils taking STEM subjects, including Maths, Science and Engineering, has jumped by more than 78,000 since 2014.
