IT was a day for tears of joy at Ludlow College as students discovered their A Level results.

The college's overall pass rate for A Level grades (A* to E) was 99.6% and the percentage of high grades (A* to B) achieved increased by 4%.

A total of 28 out of 29 subjects saw 100% pass rates.

College head Carl Morris said: "It has been a fantastic year's worth of results. All the hard work the staff and students have done has paid off.

"The results are in line with our expectations. We expected to have good results and they are in line with that."

Among the exceptional performers were Katie McCoshan and Milly Stoneley, both former pupils of Tenbury High School.

Milly, from Bockleton, achieved three A grades and a B will study Chemistry at Nottingham.

"I was dreading it and did better than expected," said Milly.

Katie McCoshan, from Bayton, got three As and is heading off to Cambridge to study Geography.

"I am very happy and kind of shocked," said Katie. "I did not think the exams had gone that well."
