PUPILS at Ludlow School are putting their computer graphics skills to the test as they compete in a nationwide 3D Design Competition for their chance to win a state-of-the-art 3D printing lab for the school.
The XYZprinting competition will challenge pupils from 18 schools and academies across the country to develop the most innovative designs they can in computer-generated 3D with each institution being provided a loan printer to test their concepts.
Each school has received a Da Vinci 1.0 printer to trial and test their concepts
Neil Crumpton, head of science at Ludlow School, said: “We’re delighted to be taking part in this competition. The technology of 3D printing is a perfect showcase for the application of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics).
"There’s so much creative talent and potential among our pupils, and this has already had an impact on the Year 11s who are including 3D printing in their exam answers.”
Submissions will be put forward to a public vote and panel of expert judges.
