LUCTON pupils pulled off a double success on home territory as the Independent School Association’s (ISA) National Triathlon returned to their school for the second time.

The event saw the school host 250 children between the ages of eight and 16 from 15 schools across the UK.

They competed across five different categories with the combined individual results deciding the overall winners.

Lucton were crowned winners of the Boys’ trophy and were joint winners of the Girls’ trophy along with Dodderhill from Worcestershire.

“Our team was fantastic, but everyone who took part should be very proud,” said Gill Thorne, Lucton’s headmistress.

“Sport plays a very important part in life at Lucton and we were delighted to host the national competition for a second year and contribute to the excellent provision of ISA sporting events.

“We are very lucky to have a school that boasts excellent sports facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, sports hall and Equestrian Centre which means we are increasingly becoming a location for multi-disciplinary sports.

Lucton’s next event is the annual Herefordshire Schools’ Aquathlon, a combined swimming and running race for children aged seven to 11, which will take place on Monday, June 29. If you would like to enter your school, please contact Lucton School on 01568 782000 or email enquiries@luctonschool.org.
