TENBURY'S Conservative councillors have been re-elected to Malvern Hills District Council.

Phil Grove and Tony Penn were re-elected following a challenge by Labour's Jonathan Morgan.

The Conservatives secured control of Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils at counts completed yesterday.

The result follows on from Harriett Baldwin being re-elected as Conservative MP for West Worcestershire.

In a convincing win she saw her majority tripled.

Mrs Baldwin polled 30,342, 56% of the votes cast, lifting her majority to 22,578 from 6,854 in 2010.

"I would like to thank everyone who out their confidence in me to represent the area once again," said Mrs Baldwin.

"The voters backed my priorities for West Worcestershire and I pledge to campaign for them - even higher employment, 21st Century infrastructure and fairer funding for our local schools.

"This result is also a clear vote of confidence in David Cameron and the Conservatives and the long term economic plan to eliminate the deficit, reach full employment and rebalance the economy.

"I'd also like to congratulate all the Conservative councillors elected to run administrations in Wychavon and Malvern Hills and thank all those who stood for public office as well as those who worked all day and night on the election to ensure our democracy runs smoothly."
