A QUIZ with a difference has been held to help St Laurence's Church.

The quiz at the Queens in Ludlow was a special event in aid of the Ludlow Palmers, an independent non-religious group which raises money to help conserve the fabric and treasures of St Laurence's Church in Ludlow.

Jane Vaughan, owner of the Queens, and Hugh Wood, chairman of the Conservation Trust for St Laurence, worked together to organise the event.

The regular quizzers agreed to pay a £4 entry fee instead of the usual £1.50 and then generously supported a raffle that included a £25 voucher donated by Walls Butchers.

Jane persuaded her suppliers to donate wine, cheese, fruit and biscuits.

Hugh Wood and the rector, the Venerable Colin Williams, became joint quizmasters for a special round of questions about St Laurence's.

The quiz raised £700 towards on-going conservation projects designed to ensure that the church remains in good repair for future generations to enjoy.
