LOCAL oboist Mark Baigent will be joining forces with Shrewsbury-based ‘Sounds Interesting’ string quartet on March 1 to perform a mixed programme of quintets for oboe/cor anglais and strings. The programme is to include the Bliss oboe quintet, Elgar string quartet in Eb, two rarely heard quintets for cor anglais and strings by Vogt and Vény who were important French players in the 19th century, as well as the Divertimento by Crussell, a beautiful exhilarating work for oboe and strings from the late classical period.
Mark works as a leading oboist in the early music world performing with groups including The King's Consort, The English Baroque Soloists, Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique throughout Europe. He lives in Bishops Castle where he also teaches piano and oboe.
The concert will take place at The Three Tuns in Bishops Castle. Tickets £10 on the door; children free.
