A DIPPER has been spotted on the Kyre Brook in Tenbury town centre.
A rare sighting of the elusive small bird was mentioned to our photographer Andy Compton by nature lover Trevor Jones.
It is a smallish bird with brown plumage and a white chest that makes a distinctive bobbing movement on the water.
Dippers are more likely to be found by fast flowing steams in Wales and the west and than in our area and have a remarkable skill of being able to walk upstream in fast flowing water.
They build large domed nests close to water and eat food such as water larvae, beetles, mayflies, dragonflies, tadpoles and small fish.
Eggs are laid between March and early May and it is common to raise two broods a year.
