OUR first meeting for 2015 was very well attended with all members' buzzing with their Christmas news. President, Rita Preston commenced the usual business side of the meeting with news of many forthcoming events which will keep us active and busy. Our first event this year is for 'Origins', Shrewsbury College for lunch. Each year county office arranges a series of lunches to support student chef's achievements in their culinary creations. We have several members' going along to it.

Rita Preston then introduced Val Littlehales our brilliant speaker. Val was brought up in the shadow of the Long Mynd and is a most talented story teller. The title for Norbury and District entertainment was Myth's and Legends of Trees. In her magical way and dressed in a forest green flowing cape, and headdress of holly/berries Val regaled her myths and legends and with a change of just a hat/wig became a different character, speaking in a local dialect she had us laughing and lapping up every word! We are so very lucky to have her living in our scattered community she was absolute delight.

Drawing on her skills as a very talented fine artist Val judged our competition entries of own photograph of an interesting tree: 1st Kath Hughes, 2nd Wendy Oakley and 3rd Margaret Rowson.

Carrying on in our usual way members' enjoyed a fabulous supper provided by Krystyna, Gilly, Rita and Liv. Lovely meeting with friendship chatter!

Next meeting will be on February 12 at 7.30pm Norbury village hall, SY9 5EA. Our speaker will be: Douglas Ogram on 'Running a Food Bank' non perishable food donation's welcome.

Come and join us - visitors welcome.
