A PACKED meeting of more than 150 people has demanded that Shropshire Council review its plans to make major cuts at the town’s Museum Resource Centre.
Academics from all over the country including the Natural History Museum in London converged upon Ludlow Assembly Rooms.
There were so many people that the meeting that had been planned for Oscar’s had to be moved to the main auditorium.
It was decided to investigate if Shropshire Council is in contravention of an agreement with the Heritage Lottery Fund which put more than £2 million into the Museum Resource Centre.
Under the Shropshire Council cost cutting measure the three full time staff will be replaced by one person working half a day a week.
Ludlow MP Philip Dunne was not at the meeting but sent a message expressing his concerns about the proposal.
Shropshire Council were invited but did not attend. However, they did provide a statement saying that the cuts were unavoidable but that the Museum Resource Centre would continue to have a viable future.
