POTENTIAL students thinking about attending Ludlow College flocked to an open evening last night.

The evening provided an opportunity for students to experience a glimpse of college life and gain an insight into subjects of their choice.

Demonstrations, experiments and presentations run throughout the evening across the college’s provision of A Levels, level three subjects and apprenticeships.

Experiments ranged from some magical ‘Alchemy’ to electromagnetic braking and oscillation of a wire in a magnetic field.

In Geology students gave a presentation on their field trips from the local sites of Clee Hill to the more dramatic sights of Iceland.

Student ambassadors also attended the event to give their perspectives on their studies and experiences at college.

The event follows the college’s launch of its ‘Academically More Able’ programme which assists potential students in the coming year with the transition from school to both A Levels and the High Achiever’s Programme.

The recently appointed head of Ludlow College, Carl Morris, said: “The Open Event is an excellent start for students hoping to make the transition from school to college later this year.

"It is a great way of finding out more about the college’s widening enrichment programme, specific subjects, support, progression to university and college life.”
