Bishops Castle

FANTASTIC FUNDRAISING – Bishop’s Castle friends Jan Robertson and Julie Burgwin have raised £15,000 for good causes since they started fundraising in November 2013. The two have spent the year organising events for local, national and international charities which include the Sea Shepherd marine charity, Bishop’s Castle AMP (which supports young musicians in the town), Rose Cottage Cat Rescue, Dogs Bodies Dog Rescue, the Severn Hospice and the Midlands Air Ambulance. They have also helped raise funds to buy a defibrillator for Lydham village. Julie thanks everyone in the town for their support and adds, “We would like to announce that money bingo nights will be starting at Bishop’s Castle Public Hall Wednesday January 14 with eyes down 8pm.” There is also a prize bingo at the Inn on the Green on Tuesday, February 3.

The exhibition in the church includes 100 angels of all shapes and sizes, contributed by many individuals and organisations, and is also a celebration of the generous response of the community to the call for fundraising three years ago to make vital repairs to the stonework and east window. Huge efforts of fundraising and donations have resulted in £60,000 raised and repairs made.
