A NEW £2 million GP surgery has opened on the south Shropshire border.
The £2.4 million development is a base for Mortimer Medical Practice.
This new 525 square metre surgery is in Leintwardine and is being funded via The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) through development loan facilities.
The Mortimer Medical Practice has operated from three surgeries in Kingsland, Leintwardine and Orleton.
It has five partners who divide their time between the three locations with additional salaried GPs and nursing staff.
Plans for the new surgery came in response to the increasing size of the local community in Leintwardine and the surrounding area.
The surgery is on the High Street and provides the local community with access to a state-of the- art medical centre that can handle the increasing capacity and provide a wide range of help.
Facilities include three consulting rooms, a minor operating theatre and two nurse rooms for consulting. It also offers a wide range of clinics including physiotherapy, health visitor and a community psychiatric nurse.
