INVESTIGATION work is again underway at the scene of yesterday’s fatal crash on the A49 at  Moreton-on-Lugg.

Police are carrying out road checks to co-incide with the time of fatal as they seek more witnesses to an incident originally described as a hit and run.

The A49 between Hereford and Leominster was sealed off for five hours yesterday with investigators at work.

A 55-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene close to Moreton cross roads.

A crucial clue as to why could lie with the woman at the wheel of a what is believed to be a "dark" Vauxhall Vectra on the A49 and heading for Hereford when the fatal occurred at 11.20am yesterday.

This car, first thought to be a green or grey hatchback, may have been behind a lorry or bus prior to the crash.

Sergeant David Bishop from West Mercia Police said: “At the moment we are trying to establish the circumstances of the incident.

"Originally, we thought that the car may have been involved in a collision with the motorcyclist and then failed to stop.

"However, we now believe that this may not have been the case.

"The driver of the car and of the larger vehicle – a lorry or a bus – may have crucial information.”
