‘COME Dance with Me’ is the theme of Stokesay’s 37th flower festival which will be held in its small country church over August Bank Holiday weekend.

Flower arrangements will fill the church, depicting all sorts of dances from waltz to belly dancing, hula, flamenco, ballet, Morris dancing, tea dance and many more, thanks to the talents of people from the church and the local community.

The children of the village have prepared their own surprise display outside in the churchyard. Gifts of home-made cakes arrive each day, books have been set aside for sale over the weekend, and the Stokesay Stitches have worked for months to produce hand-made craft items and gifts for sale.

Weather permitting, visitors can sit outside with the magnificent view of the castle in front of them while they enjoy home-made cakes and sandwiches. There will be a bookstall and craft stall as well as scenic walks nearby in this beautiful corner of Shropshire.

Stokesay Castle is next to the church and English Heritage allows the use of their car park and toilets over the festival. There is level access to the church and facilities.

The festival is open from 10am to 5 pm daily. On Sunday August 24 the display is open from 10.30 after a service of songs of praise at 9.30am.

Entrance to the festival is free but donations are requested for the church.
