POETRY has played a part in the studies of history students at Tenbury High School.

The 1914 to 1918 conflict is remembered for many things including the work of war poets like Wilfred Owen and Sigfried Sassoon, Rupert Brooke and Robert Graves.

As part of their history studies of the period pupils at the school have been writing their own war poetry.

It is something that happens every year but has a special poignancy on the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

Poetry is used every year as it brings to life the part it played in the war and enables the students to bring history and English together.

This year the school has produced a special booklet of the student’s poetry.
