A HAIR dresser from Ludlow had a personal reason for her spectacular commemoration window display.

Harriett Leyton-Purrier of New Image in Corve Street was helped to dress the window by her friend who is in the armed forces.

She dressed the window as part of the town’s commemoration of the centenary of the start of the First World War and says that the display will stay in place until at least the end of September after the Royal Welsh Regiment has been granted the freedom of Ludlow.

The union includes a Union Flag, a large replica of the poster showing Lord Kitchener appealing for men to join up a century ago as well as sandbags and paintings of poppies.

First place went to the Renaissance Centre, while second place was secured by Rickards and Sons Limited ironmongers with a very impressive display made by Janeen Deighton .
