YOUNG people in Ludlow are invited to join the party on Saturday (July 19).

Ludlow Area Youth Partnership is crossing its fingers that the sun is going to shine between 12pm and 4pm when the annual youth festival will be taking place at Wheeler Road Park near Sandpits.

The partnership has worked to make sure that the festival is the best yet with many of the local young people helping with the organisation and planning.

“There is something for all ages this year, we have soft play toys, bucking bronco, gladiator and dual inflatables, arts and crafts, tennis, cake decorating, boxing, dance and martial art demonstrations, BMX competitions, glitter tattoos and wound makeup,” said Tracey Huffer, chair of the partnership and representative for Ludlow East on Shropshire Council.

“You can also have your bike checked over to make sure it is safe, try non-alcoholic cocktails from Shiftys and throw wet sponges at people in our stocks.”

Mayor of Ludlow Councillor Paul Draper said that the event is an important part of the town's calendar and is please that it is staged at the town council’s Wheeler Road Skate Park and Recreation Area.

Team Extreme will demonstrate scooter and BMX skills, and hold coaching session and competitions. Those taking part will need a helmet and although some equipment can be loaned, people are asked to bring their own if they can.

Under 16s will need their permission form signed by an adult.

Entry to the festival is just £1 by purchasing a wrist band which will allow access to all of the activities. Refreshments and drinks will also be on sale.

Funding towards the festival has been provided by Shropshire Councils, Ludlow Town Council, Ludlow Community Alcohol Partnership (LCAP) and South Shropshire Housing Association.
