A WIGMORE High School pupil is to undergo a total transformation next month by having all her hair cut off.

Karrianne Humpreys, from Kinsham, near Presteigne, will undergo the 'Jessie J look' at Arkright Village Hall on Saturday, August 2.

The 14-year-old is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support after losing loved ones to the disease.

“I’ve lost many friends and family members to cancer and this is my way to give something back," said Karrianne.

"I’ve wanted to raise money for Macmillan for a long time and after losing my great nan and more recently my uncle to cancer this is my way to say thanks to Macmillan for their support”

Karrianne’s mum, Kath added “ I am so proud of Karrianne, she is incredibly brave to have her long hair cut so short.

"She is such a determined young lady and hopes to raise £500.

"It promises to be a great family fun event as we’ve planned games and activities especially for children.

"There’s also cakes and refreshments throughout the day."

Nicola Newhams, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said that the charity relies on people like Karrianne.

“Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face and the feelings of loneliness and isolation that so many people experience make it even harder," she said.
