A RETAIL property firm has allayed fans’ fears that a section of Hereford United’s ground is soon to be redeveloped.
Speculation was rife last night on a fans’ website that plans had been submitted to build a retail unit at the Blackriars End of Edgar Street.
But Paul Norbury, speaking on behalf of London-based firm Norbury Sansom, said the online advertisement was not a recent one.
And Herefordshire Council said it had not been advised of any planned development at the ground.
Mr Norbury said: “We had a small bit of historical involvement, but that was about 18 months ago.
"Our client said he was talking to Hereford United about a development of one stand and needed some commercial element to make it work, such as a gym and a hotel.
"We made some enquiries to see if there was anything in it, but it didn't stack up.
"We have heard nothing at all since."
The advert stated that a new 10,000 square-foot ground floor retail unit, with a 60-bed hotel and a 15,000 square-foot gym, was being marketed by Norbury Sansom.
The plans added that the unit was being built as part a redevelopment of Hereford United Football Club and would sit 'directly opposite the main entrance to the Stanhope cattle market scheme'.
