AN appeal has been launched for any witnesses to a fatal accident that closed the A49 north of Church Stretton in the early hours of Monday morning.

The police are appealing to a driver after a cyclist was found dead on the A49 in Dorrington.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but the deceased is thought to be a 61-year-old man from Bayston Hill.

The man was found by a tractor driver at 5am between Bayston Hill and Church Stretton. It is believed the cyclist may have been involved in a collision with another vehicle that failed to stop following the incident. West Mercia Police are urging this driver to get in contact.
