THE people who put Ludlow in full summer colour say that they will not be beaten by vandals.

Ludlow in Bloom volunteers have responded quickly after a plant pot in the town was destroyed.

Blooms were scattered and a £250 sign has disappeared.

However, Vivienne Parry who leads the Ludlow in Bloom group says that the giant plant pot at the junction of Henley Road and Stanton Road has been restored to its former glory.

She says that the vandalism was the first that the group has experienced for three years.

“We put a lot of effort in working with young people in the town,” said Mrs Parry.

“They get involved in the planting and watering and therefore have a sense of engagement. It is discouraging to have had this vandalism but we will not be put off.

“At the moment the town is looking beautiful and that it important for a town when tourism is so very important.”

She said that the planter in Henley Road is on the route that they ‘In Bloom’ judges will take when they come to Ludlow in early July.

Ludlow will be hoping to add another to the string of gold awards that the town has won over recent years.
