A CYCLING Festival with something for everyone has come to an end in the hope that more people will be taking to the bike.

The Long Mynd Cycling Festival was part of a national programme of activities to promote pedal power both as a leisure activity and serious sport.

It came to a close with a family day where the emphasis was on enjoyment. The day included demonstrations and cycle safety checks as well as the opportunity for people to learn to ride at Teme Valley Leisure in Church Stretton.

Earlier in the week there had been a 10 mile evening cycle ride for ladies only.

However, a number of events had been for more serious riders including mountain bike events and rides of 55 and 92 miles taking in some of the toughest climbs in south Shropshire that tested some very fit and competitive riders.
