A CAFE that supports people with dementia has reopened in Ludlow.

The Alzheimer’s Society has relocated its Dementia Cafe to the Ludlow Conference Centre.

It meets on a monthly basis and is run by experienced staff and volunteers.

The session is the first Wednesday of each month at 10.30am until 12.30pm.

Sessions have speakers such as Rob Swift of bread2bake, and representatives of Age UK and Ludlow Police. Other topics will include memory loss, unusual behaviour and communication.

“Dementia Cafes can make a huge difference to people living with dementia and their carers’,” said Christine Lloyd-Knight, the dementia support worker for the Alzheimer’s Society in south Shropshire.

“They provide an excellent supportive environment and give carers an opportunity to share experiences, meet people in a similar situation and form a support network.

"There will also be information available about dementia and local services in the area.

"There are approximately 4,814 people living with dementia in Shropshire and this will rise to 6,620 in 2021, but with the right support people with dementia and their carers can live well.”

Alzheimer’s Society in Shropshire has a number of other services including a dementia support service offering one to one support to people with dementia and their carers.
