TENBURY Primary School held its fete on the 70th anniversary of D-Day and with them was a sailor from the Second World War.

Iain Macdonald was the very special guest who opened the event with Mark Willis, mayor of Tenbury.

As a young naval officer Mr Macdonald was present at the landings on D Day seeing action on a Minesweeper clearing assault lanes for the landings at both the British 'Sword Beach' and the American beach heads.

Two years ago he returned to the Normandy beaches but spent the 70th anniversary closer to home.

The fete at the school included dancing from the Tenbury Dance Club.

There was also a photograph competition that was judged by Advertiser photographer Keith Gluyas.

Alastair Bruton, was the winner of age five to seven 'countries' and photography competitions, Abi Matthews won the age eight plus photography and cake competitions and Mabel May, won the age eight plus 'countries' competition.
