MOST brides have their sisters, other relatives and friends as bridesmaids.

Maureen Grogan was also keen to keep it in the family when she tied the knot with her fiancé Duncan at Tenbury Pump Rooms.

But this is where the similarities end because Maureen’s bridesmaid was not only older than her but none other than her own mother who was born before the end of the First World War.

Edna May Houghton, who lives at Norfolk House in Leominster, is not quite the oldest bridesmaid on record as that accolade belongs to a women of 105.

But the Tenbury wedding was surely the highest combined number of years for a bride and bridesmaid.

Although Maureen, who lives in Knighton-on-Teme, is not disclosing her exact age the combined years of bride and bridesmaid comes to more than 160.

But age did not prevent the wedding party that spanned four generations having a great day.
