IT was not good weather for ducks in the Cardingmill Valley.

But one of the hottest days of the year so far was just what enthusiasts wanted as they took part in six hours of ‘duck racing.’

The event at Cardingmill Valley was organised by the environmental group Stretton Climate Care and was the seventh year that the races have been staged.

Stretton Climate Change is a registered charity that was set up in 2007 to encourage people to save money and the environment at the same time by reducing their carbon emissions.

A team of volunteers has undertaken more than 300 energy checks at homes in the area providing practical advice on the reduction of energy costs.

The group has also been involved in establishing three carbon reduction schemes including providing training for volunteers.

Work as also been undertaken with local schools and some of the children were amongst those taking part in the racing.
