A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a collision on the A49 to the north of Ludlow yesterday afternoon.
John Hawker, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: “Crews arrived to find a motorcycle and a HGV that had been in a serious collision.
“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the motorcyclist and they were confirmed dead at the scene.”
The A49 was closed in both directions following the accident and re-opened early this morning.
Richard Ewels, spokesman for the police, said one or both of the vehicles involved caught fire.
The accident took place on a stretch of road between Ludlow Food Centre in Bromfield and the turning off the A49 to Ludlow Racecourse at around 2.30pm.
