IT has been a mild if wet winter but people are still lighting up as fire fighters in south Shropshire know all too well.

There were chimney fires on all three days before the clocks were changed to British Summer Time.

On Saturday there was a chimney fire at Honey Meadow in Ludlow that was put out by the occupier but fire fighters from Ludlow used a thermal imaging camera to check for any ‘hot spots’ in the loft area.

The previous day there had been a chimney fire at the Buttercross in Ludlow town centre and on Thursday an incident at Burwarton was attended by fire fighters from Cleobury Mortimer and Ludlow.
