Ludlow Big Issue seller on his search for a permanent job

Ludlow Advertiser: Ion is hoping he can find a permanent job. Ion is hoping he can find a permanent job.

ONE of the best known faces in Ludlow is hoping to find a permanent job.

Not many people know him by name but Ion Dumdtra may well be a familiar face to you.

Up to four days a week for the past eight years the 38-year-old has been selling The Big Issue.

He came to the UK with his family from Romania 11 years ago and now he hopes someone can give him the chance of a permanent job.

Ion travels from Birmingham to sell the magazine in a town that he has come to know and love.

“I would take any job, but want permanent work. In Romania I worked in a factory and have worked in the scrap metal business in this country.”

His home land may be hundreds of miles away but Ion wants to work hard and be a long way from the caricature of the economic migrant .

What a idiot of a comment Gutterman !!!!!. Have you ever been to Romania ????? I have, and i felt embarrassed eating in the Hotel i was staying in on a school skiing trip. Im a white British national and get so fed up with people attitude to foreign workers. Back to my ski trip in Romania !!!!! How would you like to have to be rationed 1 loaf of bread which is 3 to 4 months old for your family ??????? Due to the then Romanian communist Government. So why should a person who wants to work and not clame on the dole be put down by a typical Brit like you Gutterman. I would love to see you be rationed 3 to 4 month bread and other food. Think before opening your mouth.

To sell the big issue you are supposed to be homeless
if you are homeless how can you afford to travel back home to bham each day
No I have not been to Romania but have travelled to other 3rd world countries
they are as poor living on a bit of cuscus and tomatoes but they don't up sticks and come to England
My grandson wants a job but cannot get any but he does not turn to sympathy to the local papers he still has to live off mum and dad no help for him

If UK charities and kids organisations can't shout what they are collecting for, or advertising HOW can he continually keep getting away with it? Everytime I pass him he keeps shouting Big Issue!! Same with the other seller in Hereford who is rather irritating to say the least. BIG ISSUE PLEASSSSSSSSSSSE. Give it a rest!

Is this the part where we are told that migrants are of benefit to the country? Obviously not much call for Roma scrap collectors.
