THERE is a chance for enthusiastic amateur actors to take centre stage at the Ludlow Festival in the summer.

Rooftop Theatre Company are looking for local professional and experienced amateur actors to be in a lively and fun modern dress Shakespeare production that will be part of this year’s Ludlow Fringe.

The production of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors will take place at Ludlow Brewery from Monday June 30 to Saturday July 5 with a total of six performances.

Award winning Rooftop Theatre Company were previously based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, and built up a strong following with a series of acclaimed Shakespeare productions.

They are passionate about presenting the Bard’s plays with clarity, energy and humour.

Artistic directors Paul Sayers and Simon Bolton moved to Ludlow last year and have been looking for opportunities to perform here. Collaborating with Ludlow Fringe and the Brewery is an ideal combination.

Local actors are sought to perform alongside established Rooftop members and all parts in the play are currently available. Males and females of all ages can apply.

“We’re really excited to be bringing Rooftop Theatre to Ludlow,” said Paul Sayers.

“There’s a wealth of fantastic talent locally that we’re really keen to tap into and show off in our first Ludlow production.

“We’re looking for local actors with to work with our established Rooftop actors to create an alternative Fringe style production, complementing the Ludlow Arts Festival Shakespeare taking place earlier at the castle.”

Auditions will take place from Sunday March 16 and those interested should go to www.rooftoptheatre.co.uk for further details.

Anyone interested in the technical side of theatre can also apply.
