PHILIP Dunne as spoken to a Ludlow human rights group about the used of pilotless drones
The Ludlow MP who is also a minister in the Ministry of Defence spoke to members of Ludlow’s Amnesty International Group.
"I was pleased to be able to engage in a civilized debate with well informed local residents about various aspects of my work within the Ministry of Defence and UK policy on remotely piloted air systems.
“These assets are operated by British military personnel under the same rules of engagement, applied to any military systems used in combat, with all decisions on engagement made by trained operators within an appropriate chain of command.
“I was grateful to Amnesty for this opportunity to reassure local residents that remotely piloted air systems are used primarily for reconnaissance to improve situational awareness for UK forces."
