JOBLESS figures in Ludlow have increased but Philip Dunne is backing a package of measures by Government to help businesses create more jobs.

“While unemployed claimant count in the Ludlow constituency rose in January, it remains significantly lower than the national average, standing at 1.9% of the economically active population.

“It shows why we must ensure we are doing everything we can to support local business to take on new employees and grow their businesses.

“In April the Government will be cutting National Insurance contributions for businesses taking on a new employee, as well as cutting business rates for small businesses with a rateable value of less than £50,000.

“I am confident that these new measures will help to boost local business and support more employment in south Shropshire."

He said that nationally the unemployment figures suggest that Government economic policies are working.
