THE DOCTORS’ surgery in Cleobury Mortimer is up for sale.

The building of a new £1 million medical centre means that the building that has seen thousands of sick people pass through its doors over the years is now on the market for £350,000.

Cleobury Mortimer Medical Centre in Pinkham Lane could be used for a variety of potential business uses or residential development, subject to planning consent, according to John Evans, commercial manager of Hall who are handling the sale, “The owners of the property may also consider letting the property, subject to terms being agreed,” he said.

Indicative plans are available from Halls, on request, for the redevelopment of the site with five mews-style residential homes, each with three bedrooms.

The detached brick building has single and two-storey accommodation and a car park for at least 12 vehicles.

The final hurdle to the new medical practice in Cleobury Mortimer was cleared after planning permission was granted in May to develop the former Muller England site in Cleobury Mortimer.

The medical centre, which could open by mid 2014, will house GPs surgeries and a pharmacy, while off-street parking for patients and staff also forms part of the plans.

Staff at the current surgery have said it is cramped and no longer fit for purpose.

In May, Shropshire councillor for Cleobury Mortimer, Gwilym Butler, said he was delighted with the news.

“I think this is hopefully the final hurdle we needed to clear to bring a fantastic, state-of-the-art medical facility to Cleobury Mortimer,” he said. “It is quite an achievement to get this level of investment in such a period of austerity, and it will be a massive boost.”
