VALUABLES worth thousands of pounds have been stolen from a house in Tenbury.

Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of the items, which include a large statue worth £3,000 and a smaller bronze statue worth £1,000.

It's believed thieves entered a house in Oldwood Road, between 2am and 8.30am on Sunday, December 8.

A two foot Parian Ware marble effect statue of a woman worth £3,000, an eight inch bronze statue of a piper worth £1,000, an Apple Mac laptop worth £400 and a silver cigarette box from the 1950s/1960s worth £300 were among the items stolen.

Detective Constable Pete Ryland is investigating the burglary.

“Another item stolen in the burglary was a carriage clock from the 1920s, which we have managed to obtain a photograph and a picture of from the victim,” he said.

“I would urge anyone who has seen it for sale or been offered it to sell on - either on its own or as part of a lot of items as described above - to call us with the details.

He also warned people to take particular care at Christmas to avoid being a victim of burglary.

“I would also like to remind residents – especially at this time of year when many people may have unopened Christmas presents in their homes – to make sure they take steps to protect their properties by locking their doors before they go to bed,” he said.

“Unfortunately, opportunistic thieves are active over the festive period and will be looking for an easy steal, so we would urge people to secure their homes in order to reduce their chances of becoming a victim of crime.

“I would further like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious vehicles or people in the area of the Tenbury burglary in the early hours of Sunday, December 8 morning, to contact us on 101 quoting reference 186S 081213.”
