Mass vehicle check takes place in Bishops Castle
MORE than 100 vehicles were checked during a police led operation on roads in Bishops Castle yesterday.
The operation targeted travelling criminals and motorists flouting road safety as well as routine checks.
Those taking part included West Mercia Police, the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), Public Protection Animal Welfare and HM Revenue and Customs.
Sergeant Adrian Woolley, who organised the operation, said a total of 111 vehicles were checked.
“Multi-agency checks are being conducted on a regular basis in the south Shropshire area," said Sergeant Woolley.
“Officers were equipped with finger print scanners to prevent any identity doubts as well as the latest mobile data terminal technology to carryout the checks.
“I’d like to thank the public for their co-operation. The checks are made to improve road safety for everyone and to identify criminals who make regular use of the road network.”
