Ludlow Local Produce Market had a day of juicing apples
3:39pm Wednesday 30th October 2013 in News
THE trickle of apple juice was the background noise at the Ludlow Local Produce Market.
Visitors to the market brought their spare apples to be turned into juice.
It was also something of a history lesson as the traditional method of turning the fruit into a refreshing drink was used.
This involves turning the apples into a mash which is then squeezed in order to produce the juice.
A hot summer means that this year has seen a bumper apple crop which means that many people have a sur plus leaving them with an option of turning the crop that cannot be eaten or cooked into a juice.
Juice making was first tried at the Ludlow Local Produce Market last year when the crop was much smaller.
The market in Ludlow takes place in the town on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
