Foyer Tuesdays in Ludlow represents a ‘positive step’ for advice and support teams
A ONE-stop-shop for key support and advice services is to be combined with access to information technology and the opportunity for a sociable meal or snack as part of a new initiative in Ludlow.
Under the banner Foyer Tuesdays, a range of community agencies will get together each week at the town's Foyer centre, at Marston's Mill, close to the railway station.
Residents from across south Shropshire will be welcome to drop in informally to receive advice and assistance on matters ranging from housing to careers, family support, substance misuse and more.
This will be combined with free internet access and the ability to print from the available computers, all with the support of relevant staff from the services taking part.
In addition the Foyer's cafe will be open, serving inexpensive snacks and lunches and providing a chance to socialise.
The first session will be held on Tuesday, November 5.
Hilary Paddock, head of housing support at Shropshire Housing Group, said: “Bringing all of the many community supporting agencies together in this way will make them far more accessible to a much wider group of people.
“It can be daunting dealing with lots of different people on the telephone.
This way everyone can sit down together and if someone from another agency needs to join a discussion, they will be available in the same building.
“It's a really positive step and we hope that lots of people will come along each week to make use of it.”
The initiative complements a wider move to develop Ludlow Foyer into a digital and youth hub for south Shropshire and the invitation is open to other organisations to take up the opportunity to meet their users and customers.
Already lined-up to attend are South Shropshire Housing Association (part of Shropshire Housing Group), CAB, Family Solutions, Substance Misuse Team, Shropshire Housing Alliance and the Careers Advice Service.
