Soap box derby may be in doubt for Richards Castle fundraisers
6:00am Monday 28th October 2013 in News
A SOAP Box derby that has raised £50,000 for charity over the past decade could be running out of road.
The 2014 Richards Castle Soap Box derby could be the last as new volunteers are needed to enable an organising committee to continue into the future.
After 10 years, many of the people who have driven the event now feel it is time to take a back seat.
The organising committee has agreed that it wants to continue to provide a great day for the village and support the charities.
But it also agreed that unless there are more people to help throughout the year the 2014 Soap Box Derby may well be the last.
To secure the future of the event, that takes place every summer, a new treasurer is needed.
Volunteers are also needed to help with publicity and promotion.
People are required to help on the day in preparing the site and also to tow the soap boxes to the top of the run.
Volunteers should contact Ian Broom by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 07885 067342 or Lauren Hall at email@example.com or by calling 01584 831134.
