AFC Ludlow 1 Warstone Wanderers 3

AFC Ludlow manager Dave Cooper will be hoping to forget about his team’s home jinx when they travel to Red Star Alma this Saturday.

Cooper’s boys have not won at the Showtime Stadium since the opening day of the season.

They threw away the chance to get maximum points last Saturday against Warstone Wanderers in West Midlands League Division Two. However, it’s a different story on the road for Ludlow, who will be looking to bounce back immediately.

“If we play like we did in the firsthalf against Warstone, then we will win at Red Star Alma,” said Cooper.

“In the first-half, we battered them, but it then seemed like the world collapsed in the second-half.

“We had a 15-minute discussion in the changing room after the game because I was not happy.”

Cooper again had to come off the bench and play in goal after regular stopper Ian Havard was forced to retire injured for the second week running after aggravating his back.

Cooper put in a man-of-the match display to keep the scoreline down after Warstone threw everything at Ludlow in the second-half.

The away side opened the scoring in the first period, but Ludlow levelled through Jamie Marsh’s 20- yard shot. Ludlow then capitulated after the break to hand Warstone the three points.

Meanwhiile, AFC Ludlow were scheduled to play against Orleton Colts last night in a friendly at the Showtime Stadium.
