6:00am Thursday 10th October 2013 in News
EXERCISE CLASSES FOR OVER 60s - If you are aged 60 or over, and would like to improve your fitness, mobility and stability, whilst meeting people and having a good laugh and a chat, why not try one of Sophie Plant’s Ludlow based exercise classes. There is an extend exercise class each Monday during school term times at 10.30 – 11.30am at Whitefriars (off Sandpits Road) which is largely chair based but nevertheless challenging. On Thursdays, a more active class combining toning exercises and easy dance routines is held from 11am - 12 noon at The Women’s Centre in the centre of Ludlow. Class costs are £3.50 / £4 per week. Both classes are open to all, and learners work at their own pace, with an emphasis on having fun whilst exercising brains and bodies.
Sophie Plant has been teaching dance for 20 years and is also an extend exercise and exercise on referral tutor as recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS). She is fully insured and CRB checked.
Enquiries please to Sophie on 01568 770383 / 07962 103005.
CHORAL PERFORMANCE - On November 2, Ludlow Choral Society and Birmingham Festival Choral Society will join forces for the first time to perform one of the most popular oratorios ever written - Handel’s Messiah.
The first performance took place in Dublin back in 1742, when reportedly hundreds of people were turned away for lack of space. Its popularity has only increased with the years. The work, in three parts, spans the life of Christ covering ‘advent and nativity’, ‘Christ’s suffering and death’ and ‘an affirmation of Christian faith and glimpses of revelation’. The 200-strong chorus, conducted by Patrick Larley with Kevin Gill on the organ, will be joined by soprano Louise Wayman, alto Cathy Bell, tenor Jon English and bass Mark Rowlinson.
The concert will take place in St Laurence’s Church, Ludlow, at 7pm.
Tickets are £15 and £10 (children half price)and can be purchased online at http://www.ludlowchoral.org.uk/ticket information.php.
